General Health Update:
The Graceful Healing of CranialSacral Therapy
Offering a gentle approach to balancing and returning a sound structure to the body. A therapy designed to release and balance the entire Central Nervous System and spinal column, enabling the healing process for a number of sensory, motor, and neurological disabilities. These problems may include chronic pain, visual difficulty, scoliosis, motor coordination impairments, and structural imbalances. CST is a gentle method of unifying the body, mind, and heart, empowering the natural healing mechanisms to absolve negative stress and resist disease.
The first intake session is 90 min. and consists of a conversation about your present state of health and the initial bodily assessment. Three primary sessions are recommended before concluding results of therapeutic benefit. The body has layers and these layers hold unpredictable factors that may arise progressively with further treatment. CST works to open and release these layers at your body’s individual pace.
Please note: Some insurance companies may cover this treatment as a form of bodywork. You may discuss this with your therapist during the initial intake session. The primary intake appointment is not covered by insurance.
How Does CST Work?
CST focuses directly on the entire spinal column. From every cranial bone, through the vertebrae, and into the sacrum (tailbone), the techniques release any compression or overactive nerve impulses and allow the connective tissue of the body to unwind and regain its primary potential to serve the body structurally. Circulation, lymph drainage, and mechanical ability are stimulated by this holistic process. CST techniques are non-invasive and require a light touch, often no more than the weight of a nickel.
What conditions does CST address?
§ Chronic Neck and Back pain
§ Migraines/ Headaches
§ Motor coordination impairment
§ Stress/ Emotional difficulties
§ Infantile disorders/ Birth trauma
§ Chronic fatigue
§ Scoliosis
§ TMJ
§ Nervous system disorders
§ Orthopedic problems
§ And many other conditions
What is SomatoEmotional Release?
Many times, during or after an accident, there are emotions or thoughts that we feel so intensely about, that they may become a trapped form of energy within the body. Often this storage takes place in the most recent injury or injury involved with the feelings. Without the full release of this blocked energy, restrictions from an injury may not release completely. CST may cause this energy to release during a treatment and the therapist will guide the client through a SomatoEmotional Release.
“Research conducted in the 70’s by Dr John Upledger and biophysicist, Zvi Karni led to the discovery that the body often retains the emotional imprint of physical trauma. These imprints, especially of intense feelings, such as anger, fear, or resentment, leave residue in the body called “energy cysts”. The body may adapt to these energy cysts, however it takes more and more energy to perform daily functions. If years pass without release, the body may lose its ability to adapt to physical pain and/ or trauma.
During an SER, the therapist encourages the client through dialogue and imagery that may guide the client through a challenging encounter with suppressed emotions. “The patient does not need to analyze the problem to release it. Often the body will return to the same position it was during an injury. When this occurs, the therapist can feel the tissues release, and the body may return to optimal levels of functioning.”
John Upledger and The Upledger Institute
The Upledger Institute and CranioSacral Therapy were founded by John Upledger, an osteopathic physician. The therapy dates back to 1970, when Upledger began to witness the rhythmic movement of the craniosacral system. “In 1975 he joined the Osteopathic College at Michigan State University as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics. There, he led a team of anatomists, physiologists, biophysicists, and bioengineers to test and document the influence of therapy on the craniosacral system, and demonstrate how light touch therapy could be used to evaluate and treat malfunctions involving the brain and spinal cord. While, the validity of the cardiovascular and respiratory rhythms is undisputed today, for eons the very existence of these systems sparked debates in medical communities around the globe. Now for nearly 30 years, John Upledger, D.O., O.M.M., has been a proponent of using the rhythm of the craniosacral system to enhance body functioning and alleviate pain and discomfort.”
Faiz Healing Special Announcement!
I am excited to announce the 1st Edition Publication of "Why Birds Sing at Dawn", Embracing Death and Change as Transformation, available for purchase through faizhealing.net and Amazon.com Worldwide May 31st 2022.
“Why Birds Sing at Dawn” speaks to the heart and mind during times of loss, change, and death. Julie Hightman shares her personal journey as a witness, caregiver, empathic translator, and ceremonial leader over a period of nine years filled with many waves of death and life change. Within these pages one discovers and refines contemplation on the alchemical power that death and change summon from the core of self-perception while inviting the reader to cultivate and honor transformation as a continual process throughout life. “Why Birds Sing at Dawn” brings us closer to the mysterious essence of life and death. It reveals ways to reflect in and embrace the creative capacity we each carry to grow and manifest beyond the experiential grief of real or metaphorical death.
Initial Review:
“Why Birds Sing at Dawn is a riveting memoir. Julie Hightman offers so much valuable wisdom about life and death to the reader. It's the kind of book you want to read more than once for reflection or support during hard times.”
